Commissioning party: Urban Agenda for the EU Partnership on Urban Poverty
This Policy Lab brought together the Urban Agenda for the EU (UAEU) Partnership on Urban Poverty, coordinated by France and Belgium, with stakeholders from European city administrations, national ministries, practitioners in the social sphere and urban poverty researchers to generate input for the Partnership’s next phase: defining the objectives and deliverables at the core of its Action Plan.
Like the other UAEU partnerships, the Partnership on Urban Poverty takes into account the EU’s focus on better regulation, better funding, and better knowledge. This means working to improve EU legislation to better reflect urban needs, practices, and responsibilities, ensure better access to and use of EU funds for urban areas, and improve the EU urban knowledge base, in part via sharing best practices.
During the Policy Lab, interactive workshops facilitated discussions on the following topics: Identification of Urban Poverty, Urban Poverty, Welfare and the Labour Market, Urban Poverty and Public Services, and Child Poverty. Overall, it invited a wider range of stakeholders to provide input on the Partnership’s Action Plan development, supporting its alignment with core EU focus points.
