Joint organiser: Czech Ministry of Regional Development

For this event, the EUKN identified three key urban and regional development challenges that would be addressed by increasing the Czech Republic’s use of Integrated Territorial Investments (ITIs): governmental complexity at the local level, complex urban planning context, and cooperation with the private sector to leverage funding.

Experts from the UK and the Netherlands shared their experiences of utilising ITIs in strategic, integrated urban development strategies. The UK perspective detailed governance, integration and innovation challenges, while the Dutch explored coordination between regional authorities and the private sector, facilitating public participation and balancing zoning plans. Case study presentations on ITIs in the Port of Pius (Tilburg, Netherlands), Brno (Czechia) and the Wroclaw Functional Area (Poland) followed, leading into a plenary discussion on strategic perspectives in light of the Cohesion Policy post-2020, alongside funding options.
