Organised with the Belgian EU Council Presidency.

The EUKN supported this Policy Lab by presenting our research paper on “The impact of EU regulations and policies on land use in cities” and facilitating workshops on the topic.

This event brought together representatives from the Urban Development Group (UDG), European cities, and other key stakeholders to explore and discuss strategies to enhance the efficiency and impact of the the Urban Agenda for the EU (UAEU).

As cities across Europe have faced increasing challenges in implementing EU regulations effectively and on time, often perceiving them as burdens due to limited knowledge and resources, the Lab focused on how intergovernmental cooperation in urban matters could serve as a vital policy framework to better support cities in navigating and implementing EU land use policies. The Lab provided a valuable opportunity for on-site discussions, allowing participants to exchange ideas and share strategies aimed at overcoming regulatory challenges and improving urban governance.
