Luc Faraldi of the French National Agency for the Cohesion of Territories (ANCT) offers a welcome on behalf of France and opening remarks
Organised in partnership with the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, the French National Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ANCT) and the French Embassy in Poland
This event was based on an understanding that the unfolding shift toward a society that is more sustainable and reliant on digital technologies must be closely managed. This ‘Twin Transition’ promises transformation but also turbulence. The elements are closely linked, with potential positive and negative impacts on each other and the wider effort to create just and productive cities.
This Policy Lab therefore aimed to unravel both the challenges and opportunities involved when the ‘Twins’ are considered together, in a way that also integrates the just and productive dimensions of cities. Concretely, the event focused on the idea of maintaining citizens inclusion as the transition moves forward, such as by upskilling and awareness raising, as well as exploring how new green and digital infrastructures can be distributed fairly.
The event was hosted in a hybrid format, with participants appearing in person in Warsaw, but with a large audience joining online. Introductory remarks on the Polish and French approaches to the Twin Transition were followed by a keynote address and expert panel discussions.
