EUKN Urban Review: Homelessness
November 2021
Across the globe and in all kinds of cities, individuals are experiencing life without safe, adequate or stable housing conditions. This has, most importantly, negative effects on people’s physical and mental health. But it also impacts the urban environments where homelessness is an issue. Understanding and tackling such a complex phenomenon as homelessness requires strong cooperation across disciplines and governmental levels, as well as concrete actions.
To better understand the topic and to explore possible actions, we talked to Sjoerdje van Heerden, researcher at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, for our Urban Voices blog. Also, the upcoming Policy Lab for our member Belgium deals with this month’s topic: Preventing and Tackling Homelessness.
Open the November Urban Review for more information, registration possibilities and, last but not least, a few vacancies at the EUKN Secretariat.
