Prevention of Radicalisation in European Cities

Bringing together participants from Belgium, the Netherlands and France, this Policy Lab addressed three aspects of preventing radicalisation: identifying and monitoring the phenomenon of radicalisation, training professional field workers in neighbourhoods, and utilising an integration approach to collaborate at the local level.

Exploring trigger factors within the radicalisation process and the potential dangers of social media in modern terrorism, participants discussed how to avoid and combat radicalisation, extremism and polarisation. Conclusions highlighted that the issue’s complexity and myriad stakeholders require an integrated preventive approach, as well as crucial knowledge exchange between cities, regions and countries within Europe.
