The European and Global Urban Agendas and their Relevance for Cyprus
Commissioning party: Cypriot Ministry of the Interior
Welcoming representatives from Cypriot governmental bodies and UN-Habitat, this Policy Lab explored the relevance of the Urban Agenda for the EU (UAEU) and international urban agendas to urban policy-making in Cyprus.
Highlighting direct city involvement and cooperation between various governance levels, the event aimed to create concrete links between Cyprus’ role within European and international urban strategies, and the definition of its own.
International experts discussed the use of EU funding for sustainable, integrated urban developments, and Czech local government efforts to incorporate European and global urban agendas were outlined. In two interactive sessions, participants discussed opportunities for further engagement in the implementation of the UAEU and in the New Urban Agenda for Cyprus.
