Cities have been some of the main drivers of tourism growth in this century. Specifically in Europe, this concerns large metropolitan areas, but also small and medium-sized cities.
Urban tourism is getting back to life after two complicated years for the industry, with a post-pandemic scenario shaping the future of travelling. Nonetheless, issues related to sustainability should be taken into account in this discussion, as the pandemic has only highlighted how tourism can disrupt the natural and socio-economic environment of cities.
