The EUKN will both facilitate and organise sessions during the Forum and will be represented by our team on-site.
On Monday, June 27th, 12:15-13:45, we will host the ‘Green City’ discussion from a National and European perspective, as a part of WUF11’s European Track. The event will be entitled ‘National Urban Policies for Climate Neutrality’ and will aim at a critical examination of the climate neutrality concept and investigate the role that National Urban Policies (NUPs) can play in fostering the green urban transition in Europe as well as supporting local (or national and international) projects in advancing climate-neutral projects and initiatives.
That same day, from 16:00-18:00 the EUKN will facilitate and moderate a Minister Roundtable entitled ‘National Urban Policies in a Changing World’, organised by the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy. The session will investigate opportunities to strengthen cities’ resilience and aim to deepen the understanding of the relationship between national urban policies and contemporary crises.
On Tuesday, June 28th, at 13:30-15:30 the EUKN Director, Martin Grisel, will moderate the session on National Urban Forums organised by UN Habitat. This session will deepen the discussion on National Urban Forums (NUFs) as relevant national-level multi-stakeholder platforms to facilitate a wide meaningful and inclusive participation in policy debates on sustainable urban development.
At 14:30-16:00 we will also be involved in the event co-organised by the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning and the former EU Council Trio Presidency of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia on ‘National Urban Policies for the transformative power of cities‘.
