SUMMARY:Towards no net land take - insights from 'Recycle Space Slovenia'
DESCRIPTION:(Spodaj slovenščina) \nThis Policy Lab for Slovenia\, organised by the EUKN and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia (MNVP)\, aims to open this discussion on land take reduction and circular use of land to a broader interested public\, including Slovenian and other European experts and stakeholders. This is based on the observation that many countries are dealing with the same issues and barriers and can learn from each other to reduce their ‘land footprint’. \nAs part of the Green Slovenian Location Framework (SLO4D) programme\, funded by the Slovenian Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Climate Fund\, the Recycle Space Slovenia project included drafting a strategic plan to reduce land take\, foster circular land use and increase the ‘recycling’ of urban space. Mindful of the urgency to use land more circularly\, the strategic plan lists more than 20 concrete measures to achieve the ‘no net land take by 2050’ goal\, covering all sectors that impact the use of space: from housing to infrastructure\, from economic to territorial development. Pri tem izhajamo iz ugotovitve\, da se številne države soočajo z enakimi vprašanji in ovirami ter se lahko pri zmanjševanju rasti pozidave zemljišč učijo druga od druge. Ob zavedanju nujnosti bolj krožne rabe zemljišč strateški načrt navaja več kot 20 konkretnih ukrepov za dosego cilja “ničelna neto rast pozidanih zemljišč do leta 2050”\, ki zajemajo vse sektorje\, ki vplivajo na rabo prostora: od stanovanj do infrastrukture\, od gospodarskega do prostorskega razvoja. Poleg tega so bili razviti in uporabljeni novi podatkovni nizi\, da bi dobili podrobno razumevanje pozidave in rabe zemljišč v Sloveniji. \nPolicy Lab bo služil kot platforma za predstavitev in zbiranje povratnih informacij o projektu Krožno gospodarjenje s prostorom\, raziskovanje najboljših praks in izzivov\, s katerimi se srečujemo v Evropi\, ter ozaveščanje o rabi zemljišč kot nujni okoljski temi. \nTehnične informacije:\n– Udeležba na dogodku je brezplačna\, potrebna pa je predhodna registracija\n– Za čas dogodka bo zagotovljeno simultano tolmačenje slovenščina<>angleščina\, razen v sobi za seje.\n– V skladu z dogovorom z Zbornico za arhitekturo in prostor (ZAPS) člani ZAPS za udeležbo prejmejo 3 kreditne točke – sklop B (Teorija in referenčna praksa). SUMMARY:Urban Planning for Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Policy Lab for Slovenia (Spodaj slovenščina)\nThe Policy Lab ‘Urban Planning for Resilience’\, organised by the EUKN and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia\, will now take place on 24 October online. \nThe flooding that happened in Slovenia in August 2023\, described as the worst natural disaster that ever hit the country\, emphasised the urgency to act. SUMMARY:Driving a just Twin Transition
DESCRIPTION:Joint Policy Lab for France and Poland\n(Version française ci-dessous/ Wersja polska poniżej)\nThe green and digital transitions have the power to radically transform societies and economies. They are closely linked\, with potential positive and negative impacts on each other and the wider effort to create just and productive cities. Steering them appropriately is therefore high on the policy agenda at both the European and national levels. \nThis Policy Lab therefore aims at unravelling what the Twin Transition is about\, both in terms of challenges and opportunities. It will specifically explore how to steer a Twin Transition in an integrated way\, considering not only the green and the digital\, but also the just and the productive dimensions of cities. Concrete objectives are to: \n\nUnpack the concept of the Twin Transition to understand opportunities and challenges\nExplore how citizens’ inclusion in the Twin Transition\, via support in upskilling and awareness raising\, can steer a just and productive development of cities\nExplore what a fair distribution of green and digital infrastructures means in practice\, with a focus on the just-green dimension of cities\n\nThe Policy Lab is organised by the European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN)\, the Polish Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy and the French National Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ANCT). SUMMARY:Fighting sexual harassment: how to foster accessible and safe public spaces
DESCRIPTION:Policy Lab for Belgium (Français ci-dessous / Nederlands hieronder)\nResearch has shown that in Belgium\, 91% of women aged 15-24 have experienced sexual harassment in public space\, compared to 28% of young men. This systemic behaviour against women infringes on their right to the city and limits their ability to navigate public space freely\, safely and comfortably. \nThe Policy Lab is open to practitioners and experts in the field of gender-sensitive education and sensitising measures as well as measures targeting physical infrastructures. SUMMARY:Policy Lab Interbestuurlijke Nederlandse EU-prioriteiten
DESCRIPTION:Policy Lab ‘Samen werken aan de groene & digitale transitie: interbestuurlijke Europese prioriteiten voor de periode 2024-2029’ \nHet Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties (BZK) en het European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN) nodigen u uit voor een Policy Lab op 21 juni 2023\, 9:30-13:00 uur\, in Den Haag (locatie: ZZIIN Den Haag Centraal Station). Na het Policy Lab wordt een lunch aangeboden. \nDe bijeenkomst heeft als doel in kaart te brengen op welke Europese dossiers en onderwerpen Nederlandse overheden (rijk\, provincies\, gemeenten en waterschappen) gezamenlijk op kunnen trekken\, met het oog op het aantreden van een nieuwe Europese Commissie in 2024. \nNa een welkomstwoord door de organisatoren geven het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken en de Permanente Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland bij de EU een korte inleiding. \nVervolgens bespreken we in inhoudelijke werksessies de belangrijkste Europese initiatieven en ontwikkelingen\, brengen we raakvlakken in kaart en kijken we vooruit naar interbestuurlijke samenwerking tijdens en voorafgaand aan de nieuwe Commissieperiode. \nVerdere informatie en achtergrondmateriaal over de werksessies worden na aanmelding naar alle deelnemers gestuurd. \nAanmelden kan tot 9 juni 2023 via deze website.

SUMMARY:Women Navigating Public Spaces
DESCRIPTION:Policy Lab for Belgium\nResearch has shown that in Belgium\, 91% of women aged 15-24 have experienced sexual harassment in public space\, compared to 28% of young men. This systemic behaviour against women infringes on their right to the city and limits their ability to navigate public space freely\, safely and comfortably. \nThe upcoming Policy Lab aims to respond to these widespread patterns by shedding light on the importance of behaviour change to eradicate gender-based harassment.\n  \nThe Policy Lab will address three concrete objectives: \n\nDeveloping a common understanding and awareness of what is perceived as safe in public spaces\nSharing best practices on innovative measures that can make cities safer\nDiscussing the importance of behaviour change in eradicating gender-based harassment\n\n  \nLanguage: Simultaneous in English\, French and Dutch.
